Eryngium foetidum is a tropical perennial herb in the family Apiaceae (Culantro, Mexican coriander long coriander). It is native to Mexico. In the United States, where it is not well known outside Latino and Caribbean communities, the name culantro sometimes causes confusion with Coriandrum sativum, the leaves of which are known as cilantro, and which culantro is said to taste like.
Synsepalum dulcificum, also known as the miracle fruit, is a plant with a berry that, when eaten, causes sour foods (such as lemons and limes) subsequently consumed to taste sweet. This effect lasts until the protein is washed away by saliva (up to about 60 minutes).
